Sorry for the hiatus last week, but I'm back to give y'all that Idol fix!!! This week was Billy Joel night (yet no Uptown Girl... no We Didn't Start The Fire? Y'all need to work on that.) and Tommy Hillfiger came on to address everyone's style needs (Phillip Phillips doesn't care). Also, DIDDY. Yes, Diddy filled in as a mentor this week.
Sing us a song, Colton Dixon. Your piano is very brightly colored.
1) DeAndre Breckensick - "Only The Good Die Young" - D+
Easily the worst performance of the night. He just looks silly out there. Maybe I just hate his hair. He didn't do it at all for me. CUT YOUR HAIR, BRO.
2) Erica Van Pelt - "New York State Of Mind" - B+
EVP delivers yet another strong performance. Love her. It wasn't amazing, but it was good enough to keep her moving. And see DeAndre, cutting your hair works WONDERS.
3) Joshua Ledet - "She's Got A Way" - C-
Dude. Joshua killed it last week. I mean, just bent it over and went to town killed it. Tonight, the song killed him. Didn't feel natural. I just wasn't feeling it, come back next week and get back on track buddy.
4) Skylar Laine - "Shameless" - C+
Skylar made her version too cookie cutter Nashville for me. Not a fan of this, but I usually love Skylar. Maybe I just don't like Billy Joel.
5) Elise Testone - "Vinna" - C
I'll admit, my parents loved it. Me? Eh. I'm not sure why, but Elise isn't my favorite at all. Which is weird cuz she's a lot like Haley last year and OMG I love her. I would do... nevermind. I'm going to say that I'll probably come around eventually to her.
6) Phillip Phillips - "Movin' Out" - A-
PHILLIP MF PHILLIPS. Dude slayed it. Just groovy. He's this year's Casey Abrams for me.
7) Holly Cavanagh - "Honesty" - B-
See, I think I've figured it out. I only have tolerance for so many ballads. If all you sing are ballads, you have to slay it every time for me, and also pick the perfect song. I just get so damn sick and tired of ballads. Quit that stuff, y'all. Have some fun.
8) Hejun Han - "This Is My Life" - B
Okay, the singing wasn't all there, but damn. The dude let lose and had fun finally. I enjoyed it, although he's likely toast after this weekend.
9) Jessica Sanchez - "Everybody Has A Dream" - A
This girl is the real deal. Killed it. Loved it. Can't say anything else.
10) Colton Dixon - "Piano Man" - A+
Colton... you picked my song. And you made it yours. I like Colton's style, love the song choice, and he delivered. Game recognize game, sir.
